Congratulations to our NSIRC PhD Student Somsubhro Chaudhuri, who won one of three best presentation awards at the 2016 annual postgraduate conference held at The University of Southampton last month.
Somsubhro presented to a range of students, senior academics and industrial members on his research, titled ‘High-resolution 3D assessment of weld toe fatigue crack initiation’. In this work Somsubhro has for the first time used a series of highly sensitive alternating current potential drop probes (provided by Matelect Ltd) to monitor the earliest stages of fatigue crack initiation and growth at the weld toe.
Somsubhro is a research student with The University of Southampton and TWI's Fatigue Integrity Management group at Cambridge.
NSIRC would like to acknowledge Somsubhro's hard work and dedication to his research, and look forward to seeing his future findings.
