NSIRC is delighted to announce the winners of The Welding Institute and the Armourers & Brasiers’ Gauntlet Trust Awards 2016, a pair of awards given annually to the best NSIRC MSc and PhD students.

The best PhD student was awarded to Marion Bourebrab, who studies within the specialist materials and joining section and is co-supervised by the University of Edinburgh. Marion submitted an article for publication in the Welding and Cutting journal to grab the top prize, receiving £1000 for her efforts.

Ilias Giannakeas scooped the top prize for best MSc student, receiving a total of £750 for his continual hard work throughout the academic year.

Both students were invited to receive their awards at the TWI Annual Awards and Dinner, which took place at King’s College Cambridge with nearly 200 invited guests from industry and academia.

The team at NSIRC would like to congratulate Marion and Ilias on their success, and hopes that they go on to receive many more awards in the future.
