Moreover, failure mechanisms such as fatigue, creep and most importantly corrosion have a global cost of £1.6 trillion, the latter representing three per cent of the world’s GDP.
The National Structural Integrity Research Centre (NSIRC) is advancing fundamental science for the safe operation of products and structures; developing innovative, fit-for-purpose technologies and design rules; and demonstrating solutions for long-term asset management.
